I have the strongest feeling that this is definately cinderella material, as you have already stated. What I think it is, is a label produced by the man whos name is on the stamp, Emilio Neri, who may have been one of the earlier stamp dealers of his period and this was a form of advertising for him (??) The wording "Timbres Poste Pour Collection" literally translates "Postage Stamps For Collections"

This is just a stab <G>

Nice research Nigel,
a new word for the philatelic lexicon
Porte Timbre Vignettes.
Never come across these before, they look fascinating.

A nice contribution jhlovell
glad you posted that fellow.
Thanks for posting the clearer scan.

SCF conquers again!

The way this fantasy has been produced,
in a modern perspective we have problems
with copyright and possibly forgery.
I find it surprising these were allowed even then.

Wow, I'm going to pretend I didn't see that site, Rod. I've got enough on my plate right now.

Would you please be so kind and indicate the size of the vignette? Since I know of no other Italian porte-timbres or collar stamps, I am most interested to know if it is a "pseudo" collar stamp in the size of a normal stamp or larger than that.

Thanks, schnorchelll

Crikey! Jeanne257 what's with the flaming name!! I get the Joan of Arc analogy, but MY EYES! You know that's the danger of all this wonderful technology. Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.

The vignette is approx the size of a real stamp,
I cannot find it at the moment
so unable to measure.
