Some years ago there were some questions regarding the scarcity of a specific plate number of the Indian Head Penny stamp.

A philatelic writer said that plate #38373 was very scarce. Has anyone heard about this or has it been discredited?

Many thanks,

MikeR

As I am moving, I do not have access to my Durland Standard Catalog of Plate Numbers. If nobody else has responded I will get back to you.

Mike,

The 2008 Durland shows all eight of the plates for the 13c Indiad Head Penny, to include Plate #38373, with a value of $1.50 each. That would seem to discredit the scarcity issue.

Thanks very much, I guess I've got 100 little bits of postage.

Cheers,

150 bits of postage is more like it.

I say this, having a sheet of my own which I bought mainly for the plate block (that leaves 146 for postage).
