I found this India envelope stamp with what appears to be an overprint in black ink. I have never seen an overprint that went to the trouble of following the original print, but maybe someone knows about this. If anyone has a catalog number of near value or just good information, I would appreciate learning about it. Thanks - Jeff

I can't say whether it has catalogue value, but it has lots of visual appeal.

I like it cjd, but I have no idea what it is and unfortunately is has a small tear that does intrude into the design near the top middle.

It's probably cut from a Higgins & Gage #5 of 1891. Higgins & Gage rated the used envelope entire at 35 cents, but cut squares like this of India have no commercial market value, even if Rod222 loves them ...

"winkle him out"...cute phrase there, Mr. Tony.

Lovely, nay, delightful [squared circel!] cancellation of LONAVLA
Maharashtra state

A "Hill station"

Known for its hard candy called "Chikki"
(any girls selling this would be a "chikki babe")

Airforce airstrip called Troppo.
