We saw "The Kings Speech" last night very entertaining..in one scene King George VI tells the man helping him with his stammer that he liked to make model airplanes but that his father made him collect stamps instead...the model plane is plastic..i thought in the 1940's we made models out of balsa wood ???

It appears the first time a kid punctured the airfix glue
tube with a pin and the gunk went everywhere, resulting in
him affixing the left rudder to the cockpit, occurred
around 1930 with FROG kits.

Gee I used to love the smell of that glue
(no joke intended)

The first plastic models were manufactured in the mid 1930s by Frog in the UK

BTW did you see James May's (Top Gear) "Toy Stories" ?
He built a life size plastic model of an airfix Spitfire.

I had never heard of that show with James May (big fan of Top Gear certainly).

I think if I had KGV for a father I might have developed a stutter as well.
