I am not a U.S. collector but I like to play with pre cancels for relaxation...I was sorting some precancels and there were two 12 Grover Clevelands...i was quite surprised to see that one was quite larger than the other..i know there were different printings but I did not realize the size difference !

the only 12c grover cleveland are scott 564 and 693 the only difference between them is the perferations on the vertical edges. one should be 11 and the other 10.5, but the designs should be same. there may be a small difference in size since 564 is flat plate printing and 693 rotary press flat measures 18.5-19 by 22 and rotary 19.25 by 22.75 those are design dimensions. - jeff

I am probably losing it..the size of stamps do not look that much different to me here..but the image of Cleveland in the Fargo stamp looks much larger than in the St. Paul !

Free second opinion.
The center dots seem different but are the same size.

That's nothing! I was upset when my doctor told me my eye exam cost $75! I asked him why he was charging me when the sign out front said "FREE EYE EXAM". He said it was, but the other eye cost $75!

Interesting.. less margin and darker color, makes the illusion good.
