I saved this cut square years ago only because I like the postmark:



Little did I know at the time that in 2011 it will become a discontinued post office (DPO):

I know there's been a lot of news lately about some of these smaller post office branches closing, but at least in this case they are giving the residents a month's notice.

I wonder if they would honor a request for a last day of service postmark? As a walk-in, I know they would be obligated to provide a hand cancel upon request, but not sure if they would do it by mail. Has anyone tried it?

all they can do is say no, wt1, nothing ventured nothing gained. I would certainly give it a go, it would certainly add to an already great piece.

Jeff, most PO's will provide these services. Be sure to clearly specify what you want. Send the request to the "Postmaster" and add "Last Day of Service Cancel Request" on the envelope you mail it in.
