I once soaked a stamp. It was about five years ago, I think, and I wanted to remove a pile of old hinges from the back, and dirt from the front.

I soak kiloware because it's so relaxing. Sometimes I do it also only to get rid of old junk that ships with stamps.

I soak because I find a hot bath after a 100Km cycle ride
is relaxing, and takes the aches from my weary muscles,
several of my wives, after covering my path with rose petals,
lead me to the massage table where my aching calves are kneaded
with rare oils, afterwards I am fed lightly chilled red grapes
flown in from France, and hors d'oeuvres of Lark's tongues
in aspic from a golden tray....

Then I wake up and find I have nodded off again
in front of my computer screen on SCF,
and I havn't soaked a darn thing....

...except maybe soaked the keyboard with drool...

I have a BIG batch of soaking waiting for me to get a round tuit. If anyone knows where I can find a round tuit, I would be very grateful.

Soaking self adhesives has been discussed before and folk have given good advice - maybe try searching previous topics for some ideas?
I have been taking the cowards way out , partly due to lack of time. That is to say, I just neatly cut out the self-adhesives and leave them on the paper.

They say a hair dryer lifts self stick
from the backing. Still have not tried it as yet.

Sometimes I just have to soak.
It is something I really enjoy.
But not all the time.
About a 1,000 stamps per soaking fix.
And yes I find it addictive.

Yes, I like soaking gummed,
but self stick is a "chore"
I'll soak 50 gummed and perhaps throw in 10
self stick just to get my focus.
Out of that probably 2 of the self stick will self destruct
and I'll throw 'em in the waste.

I soak, as has been said before, it's relaxing, requires no mental effort. As to those self adhesives, they sometimes come off easy and the ones that don't get trashed. Besides, I don't save the newer issues anyway, I send them to a friend in NY who does.
