Just Inherited Stamps

To whomever can help...

Just inherited a number of notebooks of stamps and actually not sure what to do with them. There is a show in Charleston today so I thought I would go and see if there is any interest. What is the best way to use the show? Would not know if someone is giving me correct information. Thanks for the help.

Listen at the show, but bring the information home. Find a friend or a nearby stamp group and sit with them. Usually they will be glad to take some time for you. You can always check ebay and see if anything you have is selling. But most importantly you can scan and post here and we will be glad to offer opinions.

As a recent inheritor myself (and complete philately newbie) I'd say go to the show, ask lots of questions, but don't sell! There's no rush.

The Charleston show will be fantastic. Most seller and visitors at these shows really enjoy talking stamps and will freely give good advice. But beware, too much looking and talking about your stamps and you may decide to start collecting. But enjoy yourself and the show and a very wark welcome to SCF.

djr, welcome. I agree with attending the show and bringing some of notebooks for estimates of their worth. If possible get several estimates before you do any selling and as stated by others there is no hurry to sell. You may wish to go to your local library and check out the prices of your collection in Scott's stamp catalogues. Contact you local stamp club and see if they are willing to provide some guidance.
