Overwhelmed With Stamps

Hi KirkS, I have not said much about myself because I don't have a clue about philately and thought my personal life would be a bore in this forum. I lived overseas for many years and " inherited", what I consider to be a large number of stamps and currency from the various countries I mentioned in my original post. I joined the Stamp Community for some direction before tossing the entire lot. I have come to respect and admire those of you dedicated to this hobby and what I have learned thus far has been fascinating. Perhaps joining this community may give me some incentive to become a serious collector? I really do not consider myself to be a collector of any one particular thing. I am basically a frustrated entrepreneur with a new business idea or product design almost daily. If there is anything more specific members would like to query me on please do.

hi stampcamp..many of us here are like magpies..collecting in many directions instead of building that one shining collection..at least I am !!

Thanks again. At this point I am most interested in the picture I have posted above. Does anyone know what it is and if it is worth having it repaired/restored. The edges have fallen apart. Any imput would be great.

To better have more members see your picture and question please post it on a new topic out in the general forum. Not everyone sees all the posts all the time here in the Community area.

Also put the country name and any other identifying terms you might know. Example 'China used on piece Help Identify' or something more along the lines of what you want to have help on.

This way the collectors that know more about your area of interest will be more likely to respond.

I like to look at most everything and it is getting me into serious collecting trouble as I am spending too much on too many fascinating areas. I like the bridge-type cancels on your piece, by the way, very clear, easy to read, striking, if I may use that term.

I started out years ago collecting everything. Then got rid of it all. Then started collecting just one little area. Now I am into four or five areas and themes. History, beauty, shapes, colours, sorting, setting to order, things I like and not always psosible in everyday life.

My saying is Learn to appreciate what you have while you have it. And that includes the little things like stamps and postmarks.
