Here is a tax receipt From Greenwich Parish dated July 19th 1871 for "maintaining and employing the Poor of the Parish," "general purposes," and "lighting." Affixed is a one penny inland revenue stamp overprinted Greenwich Parish. Lady Day is the Annunciation.

Here's a receipt from the Kent Water Works from 1895 bearing a one penny, Victorian, postage and revenue stamp. You've seen those spiked things on old desks designed to hold pieces of paper. It's my guess that's what caused the holes in this item.
