New Member In New Jersey

Hello everyone. First off I would like to thank all of the past and current members for contributing to the wealth of information available within this forum.
My name is Doug and I currently live in New Jersey. I am a 34 year old computer tech. I was introduced to stamp collecting through an inheritance. My mother gave me a stamp album that she had inherited from another family member. It is quite old and in pretty bad shape, but to me that adds to the allure and authenticity of the book. The collection in the book is small, but it was started in 1906 in Germany. Then I also inherited a rather large collection of stamps from a family friend. I never really had time to look through that collection until now. I have spent the last few months giving myself a crash course in stamp collecting, and now find myself completely fascinated by the art and history involved in stamps.

I like your expression - crash course in stamp collecting! I think that's what SCF has given me over the past 8 months or so I have been a member. Its a very welcoming forum to new collectors, so pitch right in and contribute, or start your own threads on whatever interests you. You are among an intelligent, friendly and eclectic bunch!

Good attitude, appreciating the art and history parts. That's what makes stamp collecting so fascinating in all it's many aspects.
