While doing some postal history research on the internet, I came across a local history of a small town post office in Maynard, Massachusetts, which included these two images of their local post office in either the very late 19th century or into the very early years of the 1900s. I thought I'd post it, as I found the images quite interesting and it really gives one a different perspective of how the post office must have been run in that day (note the tiny mailbox hung on the left side of the outer wall above the man's head):
Imagine walking into that office and saying I'll take a sheet of each stamp you have, and magically transporting the sheets to the present. Yeah, I know I'm fantasizing.
