There are several companies that will expertize your stamp. The APS is the oldest. They are available at http://www.stamps.org/ and then there is PSE Professional Stamp Experts. They are the ones that are used most for high value stamps. They are available at http://www.psestamp.com/. The third is PF Philatelic Foundation. I don't know much about PF. You will need to search them on the web. The going rates are pretty high. PSE charges 5% of the Scott book value with a $800.00 max. The minimum is around $35.00. You will need to try to prove it is a fake before sending for expertizing. There were many people faking stamps even a hundred years ago. I see it has some paper on the back. I would leave it as it is. The condition also looks a bit rough. If you need some help with finding info regarding the perfs and straight edges let me know. William |

Thanks for your help. I know this stamp is often faked that's why i did't remove the envelope paper from the back. It's the way I found it in my Father-in-Laws collection. Thanks again. |

it is a coil pair perf 12 horizontal (which it is not) of that stamp Type 1 (break in frame on left as it appears to show) 2005 Catalog Scott 360,000 for a pair, 200,000 for single on cover. (US dollars) |

It looks to be a type 1 carmine which it needs to be. I've seen some that were modified from a booklet pane by trimming the perfs from 1 end or side. |

It can't be a 321 because it's prefed on the sides not the top & bottom it is a 322 |

I'm confused. What exactly are we seeing in the photo? Why does it need expertisation??? Is it about the colour, the perfs, or the imperf top and bottom? |

The 322 is a vertical perf 12 coil issue July 31, 1908 as Die II only. It was intended for use by private vending companies. The are 167 certified copies with most being mint pairs. I only know of used single and 1 used pair. They are widely faked. Value mint is $7000 single and $18000 pair. |

The last used I can remember was a pair in 1993. I don't think that minimum bid was made. |

Jimjamtwo, I know that #322 is often faked, I want to know and have it authenticated. It still has envelope paper attached to the back which may make it easier to authentiate. I believe it authentic. |

My recommendation is post the scan on the delphi stamp board. Bill Weiss and the crew there will be happy to opine. If it passes their test, then it is worth investing in a PF certificate. My own opinion is that the botton straight edge is natural, but the top has been scissor cut - therefore not 322. |
