New To The Community: First Question :)

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I'm new at this! ha! I've inherited a large collection, and have a new project everyday. Today, my task was looking at tags. I found a Canada scott 779 "Labrador" ship stamp with missing tag in the top left of the stamp. Not the entire side, almost a 1/3 of the top left. I was looking through adminware.com to find something similar, and could not. Any info on this would be appreciated :) Thank you! ~Ash

Ash first off, welcome to the forum. You will find many well versed friends here that will be able to help you with all your questions. Your looking for tags kinda hints that you may not be new to stamp collecting, but we are most happy you are here. I'm not a tag person, but one will certainly chime in. Good luck and again

Thank you! Haha! actually, I have had this box of stamps with me for the past 7 years. My husband inherited it from his uncle. I opened the box for the very first time about a month ago! Suprisingly enough, as an artist, I discovered a new love. Like I said, I'm only a month in and I believe a new passion has been discovered! I'm not quite sure what my "specialty" is just yet, but each and every one is a subject of interest to me :) Thank you for welcoming me to the community, and I'm sure there will be lots more from me :)Once I figure it out, I will post pictures. I'm a busy mom of 2 with alot of stamps!! hahaha!! look forward to participating in this forum. :)

Canada is outside my range of knowledge, but welcome to the boards! There's a section of the forum for Canadian stamps, and you'll likely be as surprised as I was just how knowlegeable (and friendly) the folks around here are. Again, welcome! :)

I myself like looking at and searching for tagging errors and just looking at the tagging, but have just started to delve into this area. Mostly I am at cancels and since the post office nowadays uses phosphorescent bar codes on envelopes I got interested in tagging on stamps as well.

A pic is great but hard to do while holding the UV lamp also. Wish I could figure out how to get the scanner to do it.

It sounds like something that was posted on here just a while ago, but I can't remember which country it was under.

I suggest you post your query in the Canadian section. Put relevent info in your title, and you will soon have some replies. This section is more just for introductions and welcomes, not everyone will see your query.
Sounds like you have lots of material to work with, I found myself in a similar situation, it leads down all sorts of interesting avenues! SCF is a great place to be, you will enjoy it here and find it helpful and friendly

@jhlovell- I must laugh out loud and admit to my rather embarassing outcome of this quest to learn about this "tag error" it reminded me of your comment "kinda hints you aren't new to stamp collecting" well, I was looking at tags all night, and didn't bother to turn the lights on to further examine. To my embarassment today it turned out to be a rip and thinning, there must have been another stamp on top when it was removed. Oh my! Oh well, there are many more stamps to go through! haha!
