I'd like to hear from anyone who uses the Schaubek hingeless US albums.
The previous generation of Schaubek US albums did not include a place for numerous 19th century US stamps, and had no place for varieties (EG - Scott #s 5-9, 10/11) nor had a place for reprints (EG - Scott 3/4, and Scott 123-133 to name a few). Do these albums have a dedicated place for each of those items and more?
Further, the previous generation of Schaubek US albums did not separate stamps by type (EG - Airmail, Special Delivery, etc). Do the new albums separate these and more? I have nearly $1000 into my Lighthouse albums, but am sorely disappointed by what they are missing. Any information you can provide will help me make an informed decision!
Thanks!

The BOB is separate now in the sense that Airmail doesn't appear on the same page with regular issue. But I don't think they sell the BOB pages as a separate set. The website says: Quote: Schaubek Hingeless Album Pages: U.S. Scott National Album 1845-1934 (97 pages). There are spaces for every major U.S. stamp listed in the Scott Catalogue including: Postmaster Provisionals, Airpost, Special Delivery, Airpost Special Delivery, Registration, Certified Mail, Postage Due, Parcel Post, Special Handling, Parcel Post Postage Due, Offices in China, Official Stamps, Newspapers and Periodicals, and Confederate States. All spaces include the Scott Catalogue Number. Bottom Line: you really NEED to call Amos and talk with them. Every time I call with a question, I find their sales people to be very friendly and helpful. Many of them are collectors and really seem to understand the issues and concerns that we have. KirkS |

I will get in touch with them, but naturally I'm still a skeptic. Except for the Scott cat numbering, I've heard the same marketing claims before ... from Davo and Lighthouse. Davo is missing spots for many of the coils from 1923 on ... so that option is out. And since my main focus is collecting 19th century US, I was angry upon learning Lighthouse had no place for my no-grill 1869 pictorials. I should have stuck with my 50 year old National album ... |

I can assure you Schaubek has a place for the no-grill 1869s, because it's one of my completely blank pages When I get home, I'll look for some of the others you mentioned (5-9, 10/11, reprints 3/4, 123-133, etc). KirkS |

"Brian: The Schaubek US Album is printed from the same plates used for the Scott National Album, and is thus a very complete album. For example, page one includes the Brattleboro, Millbury, New York, Providence and St. Louis Postmaster Provisional Issue of 1845-1847. Page Two #1 and #2 plus Scott #3 and #4, and Scott #5, #5A, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 to #17. The 1875 Special Printings reissue of the 1869 issues; Scott #123 thru 133 are all included on a single page. The Airmail, Special Delivery, postage Dues, Officials, etc. are separate in the back of the album. Duck stamps are included, but not the rest of the Revenues, which occupy a large 225 page special album (not available hingeless) in the National Series from Scott. This is the sort of completeness that you can expect, as the pages are designed by Scott so that every major number from the U.S. Specialized Catalog is included in the album, and each is identified by the Scott Number." |

Great -- now it's confirmed the pages are what you want. Now comes the hard part ---- coughing up the $$$ |

It took several years before I justified (in my mind, anyways) buying the Lighthouse albums. It pains me that they didn't meet my needs. Even in the best of situations, I probably would get no more than half of what I paid for them by selling them on ebay. Maybe if I buy one volume at time, I won't notice the sting quite so much :) |
