Hi.... what's the best method for lifting old stamps from either envelope?

I do not understand,
are you talking about "soaking" stamps off paper?

Subsidiary query for readers,
has anyone tried the "hair dryer" method yet
for removing self sticks?
(apart from the original poster, whose name escapes me)

Well... I've got some lift fluid...works fine... plus the gum seems to stay intact. Is this fluid really safe? I tried soaking a few in warm water...also worked and they came off with less effort but the gum seems to wash away. So I'm not sure which way is better or most commonly used.

Travelbug, when you say, old, HOW old? Sometimes they are better left on the envelope if complete, depending the stamp, country or age.
