Stamp #6

The conclusion I made was the previous six stamps are Scott#185. If I have improperly ID'd them, please let me know!

Thanks,

Skilo54

Hi again,

As I did mention earlier, all but one of the stamps are #185's. The one that I think may be a #179 is posted below. There is no visible pattern viewable when back-lit, and the paper is more translucent than the others.

I am probably wrong, but there are noticeable differences in the paper? Thanks for taking the time to have a look and reply if you can! I appreciate the help!

You are right, those 6 are all soft porous paper. The wide margin on stamp #2 and #5 clearly show the "checkerboad" pattern of the soft porous paper.

Many copies of both Scott 179 and 185 have a blue surface from poorly polished plates during printing. This ink can tend to mask the paper texture. Viewing the paper from the back is normally helpful.

The last stamp in question is soft porous paper. I magnified your scan 400% (by the way nice scans) and marked the characteristic soft porous paper pattern in the margin. I hope this will help.
