Anyone have info. on the reason for these overprints?




Looks like Pennsylvania must have had an over-supply of Stock Transfer Tax Stamps that they re-used for their Beverage Tax. (Could this have been an interim measure until new stamps were printed?)

Those are Pennsylvania State Beer & Beverage Revenue stamps issued in 1934. The SRS catalog numbers are B6 & B14 valued at $0.50 & $3.50. These and other state revenue stamps are listed in the SRS (State Revenue Society) catalog. State revenue collecting can be much more difficult, much less expensive and as much fun as collecting the federal revenue stamps. Give it a try if your looking for something new & different to collect.

Thanks for the info. Never had a catalog for the State Revenues so it's interesting to know their values.

This is more of a label than a stamp for "distilled spirits" but I do find the bold cancellation quite interesting:
