NR-NOTRARE, Thought you would like to know that my daughter is spending her Memorial Day sorting through the stamps you have sent her, and putting them in her new Traveler's Album. I just wish I knew how to share the excitement with you. Not having every Scott Catalogue needed we are taking a world tour on the Internet to identify stamps. She is having a grand ol' time.

Yes Laswabbie, we are having a great time together. We have monopolized the dining room table and the computer. |

What a great day! I am sorting stamps. It is rainy and humid here-yuk for weather, but a good day to work on stamps! I was monopolizing the kitchen center counter where we all eat, but then last night I got kicked out of there! ha Am now sorting them on my bed. I figure maybe I will have them done by bedtime--if not we'll just have to sleep on the floor! Gussyboy1 Hope everyone's weekend was great! |

Hi Butch.......
Glad to hear you & M are enjoying what I sent......I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon. I felt the same excitement sorting stamps with my daughter Anna, when she was M's age. I talked to her just yesterday and she was also sorting stamps when I called. Gives me great pleasure to know she's enjoying the hobby almost as much as I always have.
If you get stuck, post a picture, I have a full set of 08 Scotts. Let M know there will be something in the mail for her by the end of the week. I have about a dozen young & old beginners that I send things to and I try to mail something two or three times a month. Some, without computers send questions by regular mail. Really reminds me of some of the correspondence I had with other collectors back in the 50's when I was about ten or so. Letters from far away countries kept my imagination active. Sure wish I would have had sense enough to save some of those covers, they'd really be nice to have now. Sad to say, none of the collectors I knew then ever saved whole covers, we all just wanted stamps to fill our albums. Happy to report that for many years now I been saving just about every cover that comes my way. Guess that's part of the reason why I like most WW material from the 50's & early 60's.
Butch you would not believe just how really lucky I am......my 2nd wife Sara, is also a collector...........and she understands my passion for the hobby. It sure has made life sweet.

I have received the stamps you sent to me. THANK YOU so much. I really appreciate them & you. I am sorry it has taken so long to get this to you, but the kids are out of school now & I have to jockey for postion on the computer. LOL!! I am going to see if any of my children would like to start & try to get them involved this summer (maybe my 11 year old step-son). |

Hi Phil......
Having my wife, Sara collecting is fantastic to say the least. I'm dyslexic so she won't let me near the checkbook, she can't stand it if it doesn't balance......to the penny EVERY time and I never had one that even came close. But she really understands my passion for the hobby and also knows that collecting is an ACTIVE verb, so we've had very few problems with buying or allowing us both tho have a stamp project work area anywhere we've lived. And, since buying & selling on line the stamp area is really the most prominent area of our home. Two large bookcases, wall maps, two desks & a large computer bench, printers, photo area.........every time I come in the room I'm reminded of Lou Gehrig's speech......."Today I'm the luckiest man in the world"......

Laurita.......
Glad to hear you like what I sent, with you & Walter just starting it will be easy for you both to learn the bascics so that in no time at all you will feel like seasoned collectors. You will not believe the variety and abundence of material there is available for collectors, much of which is very afforable on any budget.
Good luck.......and enjoy the hunt.
