I expect market forces will prevail, as they have done all along. The buyers and sellers will go to the biggest market, and pay and accept the going rate - whatever that might be for the particular item they're after. Dogs will still be dogs, and sellers will have to accept whatever bone the buyers want to throw them; stars will still be stars, and another 9% on the buying price will simply mean that the item is worth 9% more than it was before. |

My understanding of the big changes is that ebay will charge 9% price and shipping instead of 9% of price. Is this correct? |

I don't really see it as an issue. Like others this guy is promoting his own store and ebay is his competition. |

Curently ebay charges 12% on the final selling fee of most low cost items but nothing on shipping charges. Hence you see many items at 99cents with outrageus shipping to offset the loss on product. Basically if I want $10 on an item and get $1 from the auction and $9 from shipping I only pay 12 cents to ebay. The new way I will pay $0.90 either way I list it. $10 free shipping = $0.90, or 1 cent $9.99 shipping = 90 cents. If you aere a dedicated free shipping seller you will benefit but those who have tried to save ebay fees by inflating shipping are now being hit. May level some fields and hurt others but its the same double sided coin that says ebay wins either way. Mods Can we change main topic to ebay new fee changes to quit advertising someones name evertime something is posted ? |

I'm glad that nitrolures explained how the fees currently work on ebay and will after April 1st. I don't see it having a significant impact on ebay sales and I will continue to shop there. |

I am not going to add anything to this thread, but I would be so very grateful if the subject header could be changed to NOT include any names.
Jimjam, if you would be so very kind.
Many thanks

I agree mch99. When compared to other means of buying, there are still deals to be had. Also I'm going to start using Delcampe and Bid-Start more. |

Hello !! ebay does not need us....they have created a market where stamps can be bought and sold...but who would like to tell us what percentage of eBays billions comes from stamps?...its not from Paypal fees from stamp collectors...there are alot of people in my town that sell antiques, photo equipment, you name it on ebay as a business..they will just pass the added expense on to the consumer ! |
