i have not really looked too much ever at my foreign [to the us] stamps
i have no idea if I have anything of value on this scan.
i admit I like the imperfs.
years ago I looked in my old scotts I think it dates in the 1980's
i got these from an old collection that picked all that had any great values from a dealer about 25 years ago.
i have other stamps from other European countries that I have questions about.

i hope it is ok to ask.
i have a hard enough time with us

thanks

Thanks for showing. Drooling time for me.
I could part with a lot of US for those. (and I am sure others would pay $)

Yes, it is Greece #56, the most common of the 3 color varieties was issued in 1882. Sorry, I can't tell you which color variety you have on a computer screen -- too many variables involved.

The 2010 Scott catalog has it $2.50 for the cheapest color variety.

IDing the Hermes heads is a bit tricky. Most of the stamps have to be separated into 3 major printings. Also have to check the back to see if there is a control digit, and then there are several different paper types. This is why most of my Hermes heads are still in glassines.

Have fun with this one...

Libraries most of the times have Scott's catalogues (in the US and canada) that are relatively up to date, either on the shelves to loan out (might be gone, ask at desk) or in the reference section which you cannotv remove from the library. Mine has both.

For the first Hermes heads, since there is no number on back, look at Greece #49-58 in the Scott catalog.

For the second Hermes heads, look at #64-116.

Have fun...

Not a #51, which is a 30 lepta stamp. Your stamp is 1 lepta. The bigger picture helps a lot.

Your guess of #43 is probably what I would guess. The 1 lepta stamp is one of the more tedious ones to ID because just about all the varieties come with no control number on back.

If it is #43, then it is probably one of the higher value darker color varieties, as it doesn't look like "gray brown" to me.

Just my guess.
