Hi,

There is a code number on back : ENV-36

Seem to be in the paper... is it common?

Thank you!

Looks like something that may have been transferred off an envelope when the stamp was soaking

Presumably from "ENV-36" printed on an envelope.

Codes were not printed on the back of US stamps at the time this stamp was issued (not until relatively recently, really).

Hi,

I think that too but numbers are very profound... maybe a very bold number envelope transferred :)

Thank you!

I have struck a lot of this when soaking stamps,
cover printing does indeed transfer to the stamp.
First time you see it, it can be quite puzzling.
