The officials on cover are not very common. The POD are probably the most common. There is a really nice Yanktown, Dakota Territory with the 6 cent Interior. The 9 cent (6+3) Interior is also very nice. Overall very nice lots and at a bargin price. Good luck on these.

Some very nice pieces there. Official covers are quite scarce and not many to be found.

Rileysan, interesting covers and site. Thanks for pointing it out as I will probably visit it from time to time and do some bidding.

No prob.

I won't go so far as to promote this seller as he usually has poor descriptions and from time-to-time lists some questionable items as genuine. That being said, I have gotten some amazing deals from his auctions. He is a volume dealer that left ebay about 3 years ago to start his own auction site. The low volume of buyers on the site often means you have little competition.

One of my favorite examples of great deals is one I've linked before ...

Scott US 245, VF, Sound. $311. (last year)

I don't know this seller, but I would suggest considerable caution. Personally, I don't even bother spending my money on these types of sellers. The good deals you get are often more than made up for by the problem stamps you discover long afterwards. My personal opinion. Again, I do not know this seller. As always, buyer beware. Be very informed and very sure about what you are getting if you purchase from these types of sellers.

I may get into hot water for this unsolicited comment regarding that $5 Columbian, but has the top margin been partially reperfed, or is it just my eyes playing tricks on me? The top margin doesn't even look like it's the same perforation gauge as the bottom margin.

Excuse me while I go run and hide...

Which is exactly why the covers shown would be something interesting. All that needs to be determined is if the Stamp is truly tied to the cover which isn't too hard to determine. The beauty of covers is no worrying about re-gums, Re-perfs, washed off cancels...etc and all the other things shady dealers try to pull off to inflate the value of a single stamp.

I managed to purchase two of these lots. I've been burned on items on cover before, so I'm still a little nervous ... but overall a nice couple of lots. Comments welcome!

$43.50 closing bid. (Scott cat $255 total for lot)

and

$37.49 closing bid. (Scott cat $295 + unknown 10c banknote on dpt of interior on cover)

... and I still intend to address the 245, KHJ. I've had a busy couple of days and haven't pulled it from my album yet for further examination. I'll start a new thread if I find something interesting :)

Even if (I think it is as well) the 245 at that price is a bargain with that eye appeal.

Hey I didn't know that! I'm reasonably sure I have one on cover running around here someplace. I'll have to dig it up now!

I guess I don't? sorry.

I did manage to locate only one from the classic period on only one auction site.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Three-Cent-...em1c31002345

Everything else was the blue eagles. VERY EXPENSIVE TOO!
