plan majorly DERAILED lol help the better half sort and begin to organize the remarkable package from KGV and I mean start! 3 hours in and I am totally blown away... so much for staying US only .. oh and thanx (dripping with sarcasm)to Stamp gal I really can not even begin to have my little one look at US again after those flowers LOL... the flags are still my number one but I really need to get more books if I am going to start a global travel.... darn... the only bonus I mean only at this point is the wifes ambition as well (her joy helps me spend money LOL)

I think if I had to soak 12 stamps at a time I would quickly go around the bend!

I do up to 200 stamps at a time, and that number is only limited by the amount of time I can bend over the dish without getting cramps in my back.

I use water just off the boil. I final rinse all de-papered stamps in one or two baths of pure, clean, cold water.

The stamps "drain" for about half an hour to an hour (depends on air humidity) on cloth/tea towels; face down. Then they go straight into a pressing/drying book for at least 4 days sometimes longer, depending on how busy I am sorting other batches.

I have had no problems with loss of colour or any other on any modern stamps from Australia and most of the world. Older stamps get special, kinder treatment depending on what they are.

I have arrived at this method not from whim but after many experiments.

:)

ok so off the soak for now as we have sen the small sample of many many opinions... and I will concur that hot water is good I misunderstood at first... so at any rate moving on with my thoughts ......

using my list and new stock book I am organizing all the flags in order and leaving the blank spaces... as I get this done I will have a better understanding of how I want them laid out in my final album and with the order and spacing figured I can hinge as I go to the album.... album shaping up in a number of ways and not at all along the same typical lines I first though about... but more on that when I get the final plan in place and start to build...

now that some wonderful folks have turned me on to world stamps I am inclinded to look passively for some of those and decide where to start with them..

i am noticing that I continually run into lots of George Washington in my US stamps and as of right now have toyed with the idea of setting up a few pages of those however I run into my color blindness issue when looking at shades and this makes me cautious....

finding a slightly more than passing interest in marchin and early victoria stamps as well as kangaroos and KGV ..its the syle and complexity that draws my eyes to these........ hmmmmm much thought needs to go into this moving forward....

That's OK bearwithfish as I was just curious as to which ones you have as I have a topical collection on the Colombian Expo. tickets, stamps, brochures, maps and the like.
Do you have a camera or cell phone with a camera in it? you could try that way to post any pics with a photo bucket type site. That's what I do. I have a scanner but the software to put any scan into digital format doesn't like my computer so I am forced to use my camera also.
