I was justing looking at my coin gallery and I thought, why can't we have a gallery in the Stamp Community. I'm not talking individual stamp galleries, but a huge world stamp gallery, big enough to rival anything that is already on the net. We could limit access to members only, this would encourage more people to join. It could be set up so only Pillars or members with 100 post or whatever have the password to add new stamps, new countries etc. It would become a magnificent reference library for all members to use, to help identify stamps. I guess we need Bobby to let us know if this is feasible and for other members to air their thoughts. So what do you think? Steve

Trig, sounds good to me..i was on www.stampoffers.com when it was only a chatboard with 5 or 6 stampcollectors...then the host James decided to take the plunge and add an auction..it now has 800 registered users and 60,000 items listed...but it did not happen over night..for a long time it was just the few of us buying and selling to one another...much as what we are doing here now..the usual suspects are more or less trading with each other..take a look at www.stampoffers.com I am not saying copy the exact format..but you can see how it can easily be done... |

Currently this is a family friendly site and I thank Triggersmob for the invite to join. I do wonder though, would the site still be friendly towards us newbie's (and there seems to be a few of us). If I was to log-in with 800 other users I would feel a bit intimidated about asking for help. The reference library sounds like a good idea but I'm not sure this is the best place to have it? Thought to ponder and it being a public holiday tomorrow we might have to get together over a few beers and discuss this matter. |

Well Bandicoot with Bobgggg and myself there..you should not feel like a stranger !! Personally I enjoy the chatboard here more but as far as getting inexpensive stamps that the show dealers will not sell..i think Stampoffers is the place !! |

I really like your idea of a universal gallery, Steve. It may be quite a bit of work for Bobby, though. |

I don't know if I mentioned it Philb, but I made my first buy off StampOffers last week. I picked up a German BOB set from a guy in Israel. |

Quote: If I was to log-in with 800 other users I would feel a bit intimidated about asking for help. There's 4,621 members on Coin Community and no one intimidates the new members, they all feel welcome right away. Heck over there there's 186 people on-line on the forum right now. (1,052 on the entire site) That's more than the total members here. There's no need to be scared. It's always peaceful when iron hands rule the roost. As far as a gallery, I'm sure it's doable, let me look into it, gimme a couple weeks. |

Bump, Bobby I think you have had your couple of weeks to think about this. What's the verdict? Truth is I forgot about it myself. Steve |
