Quote: There's a twinkle in JFK's eyes. That could be John-John, making him the youngest.
No I think the twinkle in his eye is from the Marylin stamp... Wink-wink say no more |

Quote: I still think the Ritchie Valens stamp depicting a 17 year old musician is probably the youngest person who made a name for himself in his own right and is depicted on a postage stamp.
WT1... In that case, Judy Garlands picture Wizard of Oz. makes her younger the Valens. According to the Gospel of Wikipedia She was 16 when she played Dorothy |

Wow! We're really getting into some details here, aren't we?!
I guess it's right that Judy Garland is the youngest person to be depicted on a postage stamp (not based on age at time of death).
The basis for this is that Judy Garland was born on June 10, 1922 and Wizard of Oz was released on August 12, 1939, a difference of 17 years, 3 months, 2 days.
In the case of Ritchie Valens, he was born May 13, 1941 and died February 3, 1959, making his life 17 years, 8 months, 21 days.
Just amazing details we can get off the internet, isn't it? I suppose if we really wanted to get technical we could research when Judy Garland signed on to be in the Wizard of Oz, which would make the date she first acted in that film even earlier than the release date ... but for the purposes of this thread, it really doesn't matter, as Garland would still have been younger than Valens. |

Bearwithfish found US stamps with pregnant women and Satmpgal found one with an ultrasound image! I wonder sometimes if there is any subject that is NOT on a stamp! Maybe that would make an interesting thread - coming up with subjects that have not found a home on any stamp issued by any Nation. One might have to start with a dictionary at aardvark and work all the way through to zwinglian. |

Hi to all My computer was down, so I was having stamp forum withdrawals pains. Re who is the youngest person depicted on US Stamps. I know this is not the place, but The youngest living person depicted on any stamp, (not including religious persons) anywhere was Alfonso X111 of Spain at 6 months old. He was also on stamps of Spanish Colonies.

I think the baby Jesus would take the cake Myrhh, as the youngest on a stamp, he couldn't have been more than what? a few days old at best.

What about discussing whose face has appeared most times on stamps? I am not sure about the answer for US stamps alone but for world stamps I would guess Queen Elizabeth II.
Any other candidates?

For US stamps, I believe it's George Washington that has appeared the most times. Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln are probably close ties for second and third place. Too many for me to count, though, especially when into all of the Washington/Franklin varieties of the same stamp. |
