OK, I have a pile/ton of these flag-style (Scott#3277-80)and(2915-2921)and I got wind of one of these flag design types has a high dollar error or something to that effect? Would anybody here know what I mean? or what to look for? It might actually be the newer flag style as I don't know the Scott# as my catalog (postal service guide) only goes up to the year 2000. I apologize for the vague description but I wanted to do something with these and don't want to toss out a valuable one.
What is probably being referred to (with the exception of the rare imperf errors) is that there are certain plate numbers of the coil stamps that can bring a premium if they contain certain numbers. According to my Scott Specialized Catalog, some can bring as much as $3 to $50, depending on plate number, compared to $1 for a typical plate number single, however, there are just too many possible varieties to list here.
If you have any plate number coils in your collection, list the numbers for us and I'm sure we'll be able to determine if it is one of the scarcer varieties.
The imperf errors as noted by Londonbus1 do catalog for hundreds of dollars, but not only are they quite rare, but rarer still to find them in used condition, as most who would have encountered them would have almost always kept them in mint condition and therefore would not have been placed on outgoing mail.
