Looking at the scan don't the points go the wrong way to be a 88 they go through the face of the stamp not through the back which is points up unless it was stamped the wrong way up or is it a incomplete grill of a 83 c grill
The ridges are vertical with points down which would be right for the E grill. The edges are clean and well defined with no sign of erasure so I don't believe it is the partially erased C grill.
That is one nice looking 14x17 E grill, Kosmet. It really shows off the points being pushed down through the face of the stamp and creating the points sticking up from the back. I've never quite visualized the meaning of "points down" until seeing this example, and I have a more than a few grills. Should this stamp be to heavy, I'd be happy to lighten your load!
So this is a points up grill on a grill that is Normaly points down the only info I could find on grills going both ways are a grills but on the info I have on a grills Just says over entire stamp so I was wondering how this affects the value of the stamp
