To identify this one, you'll need to look at the watermark. If it's a true imperf, it should have a single-line watermark '12' (although there is an error known with a watermark '8'). If it has a watermark with a double-lined '12', someone has trimmed off the perfs to try to enhance its value ...

If it's a true imperf, I'd say it's either SG 99, the rosy-vermilion (£70) or the pale red SG 100 (also £70). If the perfs have been cut off, it'll make a suitable space-filler until the real thing comes along.

One thing I've quickly realized venturing into other various countries is I definatly need more watermark fluid. Canada has so few and I've searched 100's of canadas possibly watermarked but to no evail. Now dealing not only with for sure watermarks but which ones and sideways, inverted ect... is going to keep me busy. After I looked at this scan closer there are a couple nics on bottom edge that hint towards trimmed. This is amongst many from a worldwide album and a local collector so at least it wasn't a misidentified ebay mess.
Thanks Tony and I'll happily accept your other offer on the used travencore. Theres ton more for me to post so If you see anything of interest I'd be happy to trade.

Nitrolures, New South Wales isn't my thing - despite being born there - but I'm sure I recall other cases of stamps from this set being trimmed down to produce imperfs. I don't think you're Robinson Crusoe in having an example.

You're welcome to the Travancore. Send me your address via the Board email, and I'll send it off for you. And if you post up anything from the Indian States that gets my juices flowing, I'll be sure to tell you

As expected double line 12 however it is inverted which had it not been trimmed may have made it a bit better.
