Hello Everyone, This is an interesting little set of French semi-postals.The stamp reads The legion of French Volunteers Against Bolchevism. They have tabs featuring the symbol of the LFV.
Thanks
david

I thought these were a private issue with no postal validity.

I don't think the Vichy government issued these.

Thanks again PostmasterGS,

I had never realised that the 2-4-42 date was on the same sheet as the plain tabs but just on the one tab.

For those interested in this collaborationist unit and its successor, the SS Charlemagne Division, here are two useful wikipedia articles that describe their history and their campaigns on the Eastern Front:

Michel agrees with you and describes them as "Private Spenden-Vignetten" which I take to mean private fundraising labels or similar.

As the LVF was independent of the Vichy government, all of the LVF issues were privately issued for the benefit of the LVF.

The Vichy government did issue valid postage depicting its own legion, the Legion Tricolore. The Legion Tricolore was formed in an attempt to have an army independent of German control. It was disbanded after only 6 months due to German opposition, and incorporated into the LVF.

The stamps were issued in a sheet arranged such that the blue and red stamps were separated by a white row, forming a replica of the French flag.
