My principal collecting interest is intaglio (recess) line engraved postage stamps, particularly those from the French community, Scandinavia, and the USA. I joined SCF to share information and learn more about stamp engravers, and to share attractive images of engraved postage stamps. I plan to be an active participant in the "Collecting by Engraver" thread here. Although I am a long time member of the American Philatelic Society, and was also a member of the (now defunct) Czeslaw Slania Study Group, I am certainly no expert on stamps: I simply collect and study postage stamps that appeal to me as miniature works of art and/or as examples of fine craftsmanship.

Hi nethryk,
Welcome to the forum.
I like engraved stamps too. I like them better than the modern photography based stamps in general.

Hi Nethryk, A big  . I have to admit, my favourite stamps have historically been those wonderful one or two colour engravings from the past. There was much more skill shown in the design of stamps in the past I think than those today for the most part. Dave |
