After much searching I finally found a stamp club, and attended my first meeting tonight. Unfortunately, it's a 50 minute drive, but once I got there, they made me feel very welcome and I was glad I went. It certainly adds a new dimension to this hobby to be able to get out share it with flesh and blood people. A perfect compliment to you my cyber philatelic family.
Of course I dove right in and made a few purchases at the sale table.
Lots of goodies including this mint hinged 1928 Canada C1 airmail.
Next months meeting is an auction. I'll have to save my pennies.

Very nice airmail stamp. Glad you had a good time. I really should get around to joining one here.

I live north of Toronto, near a town called Newmarket. The club is further north in Barrie. They didn't ostracize me because of my location.

Jamesw, congratulations on joining a flesh and blood stamp club. I'm sure you will enjoy the interactions with fellow collectors at your club. A few years ago I joined a local stamp club which meets twice a month but I have found that the daily visits to SCF are a more rewarding experience.
Regards
Mike

Sounds like fun. I would have about a 2hr drive to my nearest one, but I did find a very warm welcome on the end of the phone when I called to enquire!

I'm happy you found a stamp club you enjoyed. When I visit my stamp club I drive for about 45 minutes, going through three underwater tunnels in the process. But I enjoy myself there every time, and well worth the trip.
