No, I am actually looking for covers. (I am complete at the SG Concise level in UMM form and go pretty deep at the Specialised level on some of the values.)
In addition to the stamps, I also like to get covers to demonstrate the stamps on covers, as they were intended to be used. I am mostly interested in one particular stamp which is used mostly as a make up value.
The problem I have is that
ebay, my main source for covers, is filled to overflowing with philatelic covers, which do not interest me. I would guess 90 % of the GB covers on
ebay are philatelic. The remaining 10% of Machin covers tend towards special delivery, airmail to the US and Canada and the like.
But, what I want are the simple and the mundane, the first and second class usages. Dealers do not carry these. I have checked many most of the UK based dealers and they really don't do modern covers.
I figured, maybe some one could sit down with a pile of covers in the UK at a fair, leaf through looking for my stamp. Pick up covers for, say, 50p a piece and I'd be happy to pay, say, £5 for each cover.
I'm not particular about the covers, I just want 1st and 2nd class usage with my stamp nicely distributed across rates and am not particular about condition.
I don't know when I could next get across the pond to some fairs and thought perhaps some one could help me.
