Here is my 209 that I thought might be the "black brown" The cert actually calls it "dark brown"

This thread regarding color came up in a search I did.

KirkS, you stated that the Swedish Tiger was a regular on SCF.

I know that this thread is five years old. Are they still contactable?

I would love their opinion regarding my 830b thread?

My PF cert image is first followed by The Swedish Tiger image,
both with plate # 22164.

rlmstamps,
He has not logged back on with his forum name since 2012. It is possible that he has visited more recently without using his forum name.

Unfortunately comparing colors/shades using online images from different sources is just about useless.

The first time I looked for his contact information on Swedish Tiger I did not see it.

I just looked again and did see it there. Would you know his first name?

That plate might have been used for 30,000 or 40,000 impressions, possibly more. So there might be examples of all three listed shades with that plate number.

Interesting that you said has hasn't posted since 2012. Looking at the site it seems ebay sales haven't updated since 2013.

Edit: than again the site is still updating top ebay sellers though.

The image was supplied by Siegal Auctions, I have noticed in the past that there are variations of this color. I could put yours up as a reference copy on the website, however it would probably lead to a post such as yours from another member. I am sorry that you feel the colors on the website are inaccurate. I would really appreciate it if you have a complaint about the website in future you write to me first, before broadcasting it on a chat board. My email is on the front page.

Thank you Roger for sharing your knowledge with me off list.
I googled "White House usher" and wonder how to research something like that.

Just returned from a day of golf with friends.
Yesterday and before I left today, I exchanged several notes with Roger Kirby, from "The Swedish Tiger".
I do agree in hindsight that I should have tried to reach out to him
first. I have stated to him off list that I never said that his colors were inaccurate.
I was trying to bring attention to the new PF cert. With all of the confusion regarding color variations of past 830B's, this should be the new norm.
I did state my many years of adoration to his site. It is one of my earliest sites for knowledge, way before SCF.
Roger has been very wise in his notes to me.
He has shared an attachment with me that solidifies my thoughts
on the pencil marking on my example.

"The pencil marking could possibly be a letter M. FDR has a loopy handwriting (see top example in attachment, and it may have been the first letter of a notation made by him. Having said this the White House usher also had a style similar to the notation, and he may have recorded it for documentation. I doubt the the pencil mark can be positively identified".

I will be bringing this information to my thread,
Could it be? Could it be? Yes it is an830b!

FYI, on the original post I did bring a stamp with me to the APS stamp show in Columbus and I gave it to Randy Shoemaker and did get a cert back a few months later on the stamp as a 209b. Thought I had posted this a long time ago but obviously I did not funny how sometimes old topics are brought up five years later...thanks for resurrecting....Ray

Hi Ray,

When I read about your question of color, it seemed so close to my issue, that I wanted to say something.

Congratulations!
