I am kicking around the idea of planning a 1000Km bicycle ride
around country Western Australia next year,
not sure if I'll join a large group or go alone,
I want to photograph all the remote Post Offices and get a
CDS form those that are still operating.

I came across this little nugget, that may be of interest
to other crazy cyclist persons.

You come up with some fantastic Images Russ.

Coming from a country town, and living near the PO
I can still see, it remains the hub of activity
for the town, the central kernel of communication.

From 7am to Midday we have a hive of activity
people to and froing to the PO.
It must have been a big night, we had two semi trailers
from Aust Post unloading last evening.

Those images you post look remote, but they
probably offer a very valuable and indispensible service
to the residents.

Rod, it would be great to mail a couple of covers to yourself from the remote post offices. Future collectors would find them to be desirable and scarce items.

I am finding here, some rural offices stamp their own outgoing mail with the local postmark. Others just gather it and it is postmarked at the distribution centre, usually the nearest bigger town. Some do a mixture of both - its getting very confusing
