Here's an old bulk rate cover that once contained a catalog, c. 1966. Anyone remember this guy or read any of his books?

Nassau Street... A great, easy read, given to me by T-360. The book is currently being passed around to the members of my stamp club.
Shrub Oak, is just about 8-10 miles west of beautiful Buchanan, New York.

All of us who are "mature" collectors should remember HH. He would be in the "Stamp Dealers and Collector's Hall of Fame" if such a thing existed. Maybe it does at the APS! Here's a link to an article occasioned by his death at 89 years old. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpa...pagewanted=2Maybe this is proof that collectors live longer . . . and make for better husbands and wives! |

Herman Herst, Jr is author of the book Fun and Profit in stamp Collecting that I won here on the forum along with the Apfelbaum book--all of this for making 500 posts! Great Prizes, great books! |

Yes, his famous slogan, "If it's U.S.A. Stamps, See Herst First." Quote: Four miles East of Peekskill, N. Y. And 8-10 miles West of Bob! |

I checked, and Phil B. definitely not on the list.
BUT
I went ahead and nominated him pre-humously since he's such a stalwart pillar of our site. |
