I collect Honest Abe because he was a great president, I am from Springfield IL, and we are saturated in Lincoln lore in the Land of Lincoln.

I was born in the Land of Lincoln (Carmi, Illinois). Used blocks of 19th century stamps are scarce but not widely collected. |

Spedward, That is a very nice stamp. The USPS reprinted that stamp on a souvineer sheet in May of 2006 for the International stamp expo Washington 2006. I was fortunate enough to go and even went to the First Day Ceremony and got all 3 stamps on Ceremony programs. I know mint the original runs around $65.00 but used is only $1.00. I will see if I have a duplicate for you. |

Cool Covers. I wish Oklahoma had something like that for history, but then again we have all the Native History here. I bet people in other places get bored of the history there and find loads of interest in other areas of the U.S. |

Thanks Cim! It is always good to expand your interests & knowledge. For local history, you could look into the Oklahoma Land Run. Ken Turmel has a print that features all the post office postmarks in the land run area, some of which were commemorative pictorial postmarks, on 1 print. check out the site www.postmarkart.com. to view it. It is quite impressive along with his other art pieces. |
