A UK-based magazine mailed via Cavalier Mailing Services of Norfolk, Norwich, UK made its way to a US address with this corner indicia:

Does this mean the magazine was actually mailed from Germany or is there some sort of financial benefit to bulk mailing periodicals in this fashion?

Chances are they are mailing through a distribution company in Germany. I've worked for a couple of companies who've used American companies to distribute our magazines even though we were published in Canada. All down to the bottom line.
Just one possibility.

Thanks. It makes sense, I suppose, but the fact that I am receiving a magazine written in English from the UK coming to an English-speaking household in the US, made for a bit of an oddity to see a language in the postal markings that I couldn't read.
