I've used gift option to send money to my kids and never even looked to see if I was charged for it. Several buyers mostly from other countries say they do get charged as sender. Never really looked at the rules or Faq's on the whole thing. I will no longer even suggest the option unless of course someone wants to just send me some money.

"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!"
It's just the wizard.

Thanks everyone for your input,
I didn't expect to spark such a discussion
It was in the main, just about myself,
I didn't really know how to approach the situation
or if indeed it really meant anything.
I was going on the "if it doesn't feel right, then
it probably isn't right"

I am sorted
I empathise with vendors of small lots, I have been there
I sold an item here once very low cost, and it ended up
costing me money to sell it.
No one wants that.

I often paypal all my lots up to the nearest dollar
to assist the vendor, but now I have a figure of 3%
and I can work with that.
We do indeed get great bargains here, I'll continue
to support the auctions, I won't pay the gift option
but will adjust the paypal payment.

Thanks everyone.

I use the other gift option. I give people the option to gift me stamps. :o)

It has worked out several times (thanks to the generous souls on SCF).

Paranoia lives. I will take whatever method of payment I can get my mitts on. if someone wants to "gift" the payment to me, that's their choice, as I never ask for it.

I want you all to know I hold Philb and Smauggie personally responsible if any problems occur with my Keyboard.

Their super little Comedy duet made me spew up my morning coffee all over the A to Z !

Great thread. You see, even serious ones can make you laugh.

Londonbus1......Not that imposter Wizardbus!
