I saw a cover franked with an overprinted Hindenburg (GERMANY) stamp. The overprint said Elsass (Alsace) and I recognized this to be a stamp issued in France under German occupation (WW2). The stamp is not rare and listed in Scotts under France (German occupation). OTOH, I was puzzled by the postmark which was rectangular with NO date, just the word "Waffelnheim." Can you tell me a little about this postmark? What is Waffelnheim? A town? A german army unit?

Can you show a picture of the postmark? I think is actually is Hoffenheim, which is a town in Germany.

The French call it Wasselonne, the Germans call it Wasselnheim. It is a bit west of Strasbourg.

[edit: I thought I had one, but I can't find it...more looking to do.]
