I was a child in Manila in 1935 when the Pan American Clipper made its first flight. I have a photo of myself, brother, and mother in the Clipper in Manila Bay. My father sent a letter to his brother in Rochester NY on the return flight. I discovered the envelope last week while visiting my brother, and have scanned it. The envelope is stamped "CHINA CLIPPER - First Flight from MANILA". Stamps were cancelled on Dec 2, 1935 and the enveloped stamped on the reverse side as received in San Francisco on Dec 6, 1935. A map shows that the plane stops at Wake, Midway, and Hawaii on the way to San Francisco.

This envelope and stamps should stir some interest.

Bruce, welcome to this stamp forum. I'm sure you will enjoy the content in the various threads and feel free to ask any questions about the hobby. There are many knowledgeable collectors here who are eager and willing to answer your questions.

With regards to the envelope and stamps, your link doesn't work - "The Page Cannot Be Found".

Regards
Mike

Welcome, Bruce. Nice cover. I've always liked the two overprinted PI-US stamps...it is good to see them doing their job.

Advance down to the "Return Flights" section (Manila to San Francisco) at this link and it explains the cover and gives statistics on how many covers were flown on that flight:

I'm new to this site and looking to get some information on my Pan American Clipper Initial 1935 Flight from Manila to Brooklyn, NY stamps/envelope/letter. The letter is one-page (back & front) referring to the flight itself. Mine seems to have a lot of stamps on it compared to others I've seen. I know nothing about it so all information is welcome...
