Hi everyone. I would like any available information you might have on these Sudan stamps. These were part of a shoebox of stamps I bought for $5.00. I may sell them; although I am leaning towards keeping most of them. I would like to know the year of issue, approximate value, or anything else that you can offer. Thanks everybody! I am so glad I found this sight; I am learning so much about these stamps.

What is the deal with the holes punched in these stamps? Does that mean anything?

All these stamps were punctured 'SG' for use by the S(udan) G(overnment): they're officials.

The large format stamps were issued in 1913-22. Gibbons catalogues them at 15p for the 5 Mil., 35p for the 1 Piastre and 65p for the 2 Piastre. Two sets of the small format stamps were issued: in 1922 (watermarked star and crescent) and 1927-30 (watermarked 'SG'). The 5 Mil. is £1.50 with the first watermark and 10p with the second watermark; the 10 Mil. is £1.50 with the first watermark, and 35p with the second watermark.

Not a whole lot of value, but attractive-looking stamps, all the same. (If you like that sort of thing. My preference is more for stamps that look like my avatar.)
