I don't know if its s secret or not...but I see collectors who have been at it awhile putting their duplicates and unwanted stamps up for sale or auction...where can a stamp collector get a better, fairer, safer deal than from the membership here at SCF ? We are hobbyists and yes friends..i hope it continues for a long while..i rest my case !

I have to agree Phil. I've not been here that long, but I've found it a great place to sell, trade and buy some great stamps. ebay is fine to unload and make some cash to put toward new acquisitions, but here you know they are going to a better place. Also learned a lot. And that's saying a lot!

This is an excellent forum to trade or sell stamps with fellow collectors who will truly enjoy their acquisitions.

I've never sold anything before online yet-- and plan to at some point, but it would be nice to be able to at least make a bid if there is an item I see in the auctions on SCF. I'm not at 50 yet, but I have posted some, I think, quality posts.....so maybe TONIGHT, I'll finally make it to 50! Ray (this one is by far the cheesiest that I've posted thus far).....

I have a question regarding auctions. Does anyone feel uncomfortable bidding against members. I have seen several items which possibly I would bid on, but since others here have already bid, I just don't feel right in bidding against them. Does anyone else feel this way?

I would have to concur as I too am a relative newcomer but feel safe in knowing that their are some very knowledgeable people that actually care and will actually assist you on a purchase and maybe help you find that "must have" item for a decent price. I feel more comfortable making a purchase from an S.C.F. member than a "cold buy" on ebay. I know that if I buy or choose to sell an item that it will go to a good home and to someone that will appreciate it.

I hope my message got through, as I'm not to terribly good with words.

I agree with bobgggg
Alls fair, and it's pretty friendly here, so I'm sure there are no hard feelings from those of us who loose. As with any auction, there'll always be another item come along.

As a member here who won his first couple of auctions recently, it feels a lot nicer to buy stamps here than ebay.
Reaching 50 posts also gives an option of requesting for trades, swaps or even claiming that elusive giveaways from members here

Now that I have reached 50 posts I can join in the auctions but thatw asnt the reason I joined SCF - its all about the wealth of information there is here and the fact that members are more than willing to share it

I often wonder when bidding on ebay if its against another SCF member and if it is please stop making me spend all my money.
As far as bidding on auctions here I have to admit I shyed away at first especially to senior members but all is fair and step on up thats what makes the game fun.

I gather from a few of the posts that some members here haven't been to a stamp club auction. Face-to-face bidding with your friends! THAT can be daunting
