Well I put, for want of a better phrase,
the "shellite" test for removing the paper from
Triggersmob's auction I purchased last week.

The Estonian stamps came through with flying colours.
The "shellite" method put forward by that NZ collector
and linked on a thread here on SCF, had the "self-stick"
Estonian stamps just falling off the paper.
I did 5 in just over 5 minutes, just a fraction of the time
ordinary gum stamps takes to process.

Removing self stick stamps now appears an easy task.

The paper to which the stamp is adhered to makes a difference
they fall off ordinary cover paper, but take another say 12 seconds to have the fluid soak through a postcard paper.

We still do not know, any long term damage, if any, "shellite" will cause, perhaps only a chemist would know.

Did you need to scrape the back with a steel rule as well?
Like the Kiwi showed.

Yes Steve,
followed the rules to the letter,
albeit, I used a flatter dish for my "white spirits"
so I could have one soaking whilst I finished the one prior.
They ended up squeaky clean after a light rub with
clean cotton rag.
