Forgot to mention that there were a couple of coins, stock certificates, and presidential campain items also. There must have been 100 bux worth of showgaurd mounts, ranging from single stamp size to sheet, with everything between. Magnifying glasses, loupes, various perf gauges, many stock books (nice ones too), ultraviolet lamp, etc... Thousands of glassines...
I barely got the stuff in my van. |

I guess I'll tell ya... I paid 500 for everything, including bird and $400 cage. Just don't tell the wife! |

What fun, Ratio! Good luck going through everything. I think this is my favorite aspect of this hobby--- because you never know what could be lurking at the very bottom of the box. |

If any of you collect what appears to be Chinese commem stamps, I'll try to get pics up of some of the small panels I found in the mish-mash. There are only a few, but they are pretty nice little pieces. |

As for the #1, it is a pale brown color with a blue killer. Luckily the cancel is transparent enough to see the features of the stamp, and didn't totally obliterate it. It appears the cancel may have been a bullseye that was over inked or something. They got the stamp dead center over Ben's face. |

Yeah, I suppose. Normally I would keep everything, but there is so much duplication that I am probably going to start putting stuff up in the 'auction' section of the marketplace forum here on this site. Mainly albums and world stuff. I am going to transfer any 'upgrade' stuff to dad's albums. Some of the albums are very nice. Then there are about a dozen older binders that are empty. Green Scott album binders. |

I have 2 albums dedicated to "coil stamp plate" collecting. I have no interest in doing this, so those will go quick/cheap. Another complete album is for a plate block collection. It's empty and very nice. Someone may want it too.

Really for what I spent, I don't just need to recoup any monies, as I would have if I spent a grand. However, some stuff is bulky, and if I don't intend to use it, I'd rather let it go cheap here, as opposed to throwing it away... and I did consider throwing some of it away that I'd never use.
I think if someone has a chance to get a high dollar album for a few bux and shipping, it's a win-win. |

Dang cockatoos cost about $500 so stamps are free or close to it. Interested in the canadian if you want to illiminate a chunck off the hop. All in all looks like a good if not really fun grab. If the mixes are that good it will be fun sorting and sounds like you'll be able to trade for all your empty holes. You have to lay it all out and take a couple aerial pics bird included. |

"Now if you can just train the cockatoo to sort stamps..." That would be too cool. I got the Cockatoo for my grandmother. She likes birds and has been asking for a parrot.
I have been playing a little today and swapping in some obvious candidates to my albums.
I have filled or upgraded the following spots so far:
1 (haven't moved it yet) 145 146 157 223 232 233 236 237 257 296 323 374 375 376 377 378 449 450
E8 E11
F1
J77 J78
Most were 'upgrades' from what Dad had to better, or even a couple of unused, examples. The biggest beneficiary of actual holes filled, not just upgrades, was the Columbians. The F1 Registration Stamp was a hole, and it was filled with a nice used one. |

i was wondering why you were buying all the different types of stamps..what were you really interested in ? But as you found out..to a non stamp person..having all those stamps around is really a burden...they want them gone and I think price really becomes secondary !! |

"What were you really interested in?"
I think that the cover really got me. I love cover... Regular cover, colorful advertising cover, FDC, etc... There are tons of cover.
As the stamps go, I like anything US. Yes, there is an overload of albums, modern used, and used on paper, but I will just have to deal with it. |

Of course I couldn't overlook giving that #1 a home either.
Not my favorite stamp (sorry if that offends!), but it is a hole filled! |
