I came across a used Scott 97 on ebay a few days ago. I had just purchased a used 97 with slightly better centering and a much lighter cancel but the one being auctioned got my attention.

Here is the scan of the back that was posted in the body of the listing:

Once I received the stamp I floated it to remove the hinge remnants and get a better look at the overall condition of the stamp. The stamp does have a vertical crease with some tearing in the grill area but I think I got another good example of a double grill for a very reasonable price.

In the image below, the grills (and the crease/tearing) have been highlighted with a light dusting of graphite.

Nice addition, very nice impression of both grills. Grills add a special challenge to displaying, especially grill varieties. Another pitch for printing your own pages is that a englrged scan of the grill can be shown with the stamp.

very beautiful stamp and really creative using graphite to highlight grill on photo too! I also have some older stamps with hinge remnants and often wanted to re soak to remove all the junk but was unsure if it was appropriate. Now I think I might give it a try and clean them up a bit. Thank you for the idea friend.
