Here is a 1956 Swedish cover that has an Utforsel Medgiven stamp on it. It transaltes to Exit Consented. Why would stamp need to be on the cover? It kind of sounds like permission was needed before mailing. What exactly does this mean?
Thanks
David

Not listed in Ask Phil database.

Guess:
contents were registered, and may have been liable for customs duty.
exit was granted.

Utförsel Medgiven I get Google to translate to
'Export Consented'

On Roots Web on this page:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~s...tik/e126.htm
about Swedish (Sverige) postal labels, five different types of these labels are shown and documented but no explanation given. They call them 'Export Admitted labels'.

Thanks. I haven't looked through it, nor other parts of Roots Web site(s), but I find it interesting that there is stamp information on a genealogy site. That would help track down the village / town that people lived in I suppose.

Another avenue to explore.

I was a bit surprised by that too, the last place I would think to look.
Thanks again
