Here are two cards I found while rooting through some older stamps I have from a collector on St Pierre et Miquelon originally. Some of the stamps have been damaged by not being stored correctly.

This Felix Potin chocolate company, to my limited knowledge, seems to have been including collectibles with their chocolate(s). Rough idea of time frame these were available is in the 1890's. Stamps, collectible cards, etc. Some are on ebay or elsewhere online.

I do not know if the stamps themselves have any value. I have shown thee for interest's sake only.

Reverse of either card has chocolate advertisement:

Thanks Puzzler,
not seen these before,
I guess there is a tongue in cheek connection between
"small collection" the stamps and the confectionary.

From what I can see , underneath the stamps, they are affixed to the thick paper by a bit of glue. No hinges evident. Haven't taken them off (soaked) yet. Wonder if I should?

I think I will delay and watch a few on ebay and see what happens there. A bit of research is needed.

I think it was a wonderful idea to include a small collection ('le petit collionneur' Google translates as The Small Collector) with their small collection of fine chocolates, or fine chocolate, as I notice they sold by larger amounts (300 grams) than just by the tabelette.

I wonder at the double vanilla and triple vanilla mentioned. Was not vanilla considered to be an aphrodisiac at times (even now). Would this product have been aimed at the man wooing the prospective wife to perhaps see the particular man in a more favorable light?

The stamps all seem to be Fine to Very Fine themselves, the bent corners and attached paper pieces being from storage. You wouldn't want to supply poor quality stamps with your superior super fine chocolate to leave a bad taste in the mind now would you? One must supply quality with quality. Ingenious.

I may have found another collecting interest in these and in other collectibles from the same source like the picture cards.
A collectible card found on bidstart.com by Googling:

Again with the vanilla. I am suspicious.

There are posters from Felix Potin company also, one on linen recently sold at Christie's for $716; although cheaper versions of the same can be had for $50 or so.

I also noticed while googling that some people collect the chocolate wrappers themselves.

That's very interesting. If you do decide to soak maybe consider re-attaching them using mounts on all straightened on those original cards but if it were me I'd just leave well enough alone. Very interesting however! Thank you.

What a wonderful find Puzzler, really delicious, I can see why you might be fondant of them.

I would agree with holding back before soaking. What a wonderful start to a sideline collection, really interesting. I hope you will keep us up to date with your research.

I collect stamps and chocolates. The stamps accumulate. The chocolate mysteriously does not, and I am continually having to replace my collection

Edit - whoops Puzzler, I called you BeeSee! Senility setting in 2 months before 40th birthday.

Ah, no matter, it is because the stamp avatars are almost the same. Others get confused by this also. I perhaps should change mine to something else.

Eating your chocolate collection. My oh my. Save the wrappers though. Those are collectible somehow I think.
