I was wondering, any one out there know if the 1869 Pictorials were issued with straight edges? Is it possible to have a copy from the edge of a sheet with one or two non-perfed edges?

Dave1955, The 1869 1 cent through 12 cent were pinted in sheets of 300 consisting of 2 panes of 150 each. These sheets were split vertically to produce the 2 panes. On the 1 cent through 12 cent you can have a right or left straight edge. The 15 cent through 90 cent were printed in sheet consisting of one pane of 100 subjects. On the 15 cent through 90 cent there would not be a straight edge. The 30 cent (Scott 121) with a straight edge would be a trimmed stamp.

Yup either a die proof or a trimmed specimen is my best guess.

Thanks Russ, I figured it was trimmed. The price was to good! Here is a picture of the stamp, please excuse the quality, I'm as computer savy as a Guinea Pig.

I'll post a bit more about me on the introduce thread.

Again thanks all for the information and the Welcome. Dave

Dave if you keep showing great stamps like that I am really going to get jealous, serioulsy jealous, and when I get jealous, I really get jealous. People get jealous just thinking about how jealous I get when I really decide to get jealous. So - first the Columbians and now this. I am ramping up for a really good spate of jealous! - jeff
