This set from Liberia is truly quite amazing... I figure that their are 6 mistakes on these stamps. Only ONE stamp from the set is 100% correct... Who wants to start guessing what the mistakes are?? Regards Gavin Collector of "Any philatelic material that depicts a motorcycle, or part thereof, or name of manufacturer, recognizable as being of ITALIAN ORIGIN."

on the bmw the cable runs across the mudguard to the other side of the bike.....screech crash.
on the rolls royce there is no clearance on front mudguard (only for riding in straight lines?)
Did rolls royce make motorcycles?
I think Henry Royce mucked around in those flying machines, which eventually killed him.
The HD 1960 looks as if it has a disc brake on front wheel, were they available then?
There is no ashtray on the Japanese 1907 zenith?

Couple of correct ones their.. 1. Rolls Royce never built motorcycles... that is a Brough Superior that George Brough made for a bike show. He called his machines "the Rolls Royce of motorcycles". 2. Yes that is a Disc brake on the HD, so it can't be 1960. Two down 4 to go.... and it was Rolls that was the fly boy showman... Royce was just a hard working engineer Regards Gavin |

Brough Superior used Matchless and J.A.P. engines of various types for the normal production road bikes, but he was a huge showman so he always tried to make a splash at the British bike show so he built bike specially for the shows. That one is I think called the Brough Superior dream and has a 4 cyinder opposed engine. Like two BMW twins one on the top of the other. So the bike is fine. Regards Gavin |
